Marzento started at a kitchen table in Surabaya, where a handful of photographers used to trade contact sheets and argue about which frame should close a story. That habit turned out to be worth keeping around.
What began as favors between colleagues became a small practice: reading photo sets the way a picture editor would, with the time and attention that busy newsrooms rarely have to spare for freelancers and independents.
